Maki began working as a GYROTONIC® trainer at our clinic between
2015 and 2016, where she first met Dr. Takuji
Shirasawa.
In October 2019, she officially rejoined our team to introduce GYROTONIC® and GYROTONIC® sessions for
elderly
patients.
Diagnosed with scoliosis during middle school, Maki struggled with chronic back and shoulder
pain for many years.
This personal experience led her to explore natural healing therapies. Since 1998, she has
pursued training in medical
aromatherapy, sports massage, and nutritional therapy.
In 2013, she attended a session led by Master Trainer Mariko Miyauchi and was amazed at how
dramatically GYROTONIC®
helped ease her scoliosis symptoms—far more effectively than chiropractic or acupuncture. She
has been dedicated to the
method ever since.
Message from Maki Shimo:
“GYROTONIC® has helped me reconnect with my own senses and inner
awareness.
In each session, we focus on relaxed breathing and joyful, mindful movement.
I hope to share this method with elderly patients, individuals with dementia, and those with
physical
challenges—including young people living with scoliosis.
Together with Dr. Shirasawa, we’re developing a new standard in therapeutic movement.”
